Privacy Policy
This policy explains what CaseCounsel collects, how uploaded material is handled, and the choices you have over your own data.
Last updated October 2026.
Account information we collect
When you create an account we store your email address, an optional display name, the sign-in providers you have linked, and the dates your account was created and last updated. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
Usage information we collect
We record privacy-safe usage events so we can measure reliability and cost: which feature was used, whether it succeeded or failed, the jurisdiction selected, the response mode, timing measurements, and an estimated processing cost. We do not store the text of your questions, your documents, your transcripts, or your file names in these usage records.
Your conversations and uploads
Your conversations, questions, generated analyses, case workspaces, and uploaded evidence are stored so you can return to them. Uploaded material may contain highly sensitive information, including police reports, medical references, court filings, images, and video. Only upload material you have lawful authority to provide.
Everything you create is private by default. Access rules are enforced at the database level so one account cannot read, change, or list another account's records. Uploaded files are held in a private storage area that is not publicly readable.
AI and third-party processing
Generating an analysis sends your question, the relevant recent conversation context, and any text extracted from material you attached to our AI processing provider. Citation checking sends only the case citation text to a public court-opinion database. Hosting, database, storage, and email delivery are handled by our infrastructure providers. We do not sell your conversations, uploads, or personal information, and we do not use them for advertising.
Retention and deletion
Your records are kept while your account is open so your matters remain available. You can delete individual conversations and workspace records at any time, export your data from Settings, and delete your account from Settings. Deleting your account removes your private application data and your access to the service. Privacy-safe, non-identifying usage counts may be retained for reliability and cost reporting.
For any other privacy request, contact us through the Support page.
Security limitations
We use access controls, encrypted transport, and private storage, and we record a cryptographic hash of uploaded evidence so changes to a file can be detected. No online service can promise absolute security. Do not upload material you are legally prohibited from transmitting, and consult a licensed attorney about privileged material.
